As Season 6 of Showtime’s popular series Dexter wraps up, there has been a lot of talk and predictions surrounding what is to come for the series. Recently the series showrunner Scott Buck reflected on the highly talked about finale and what fans can expect from the upcoming season.
There has been a lot of talk about Deb’s (Jennifer Carpenter) revelation that she has feelings for her adopted brother Dexter (Michael C. Hall). Buck defended their decision to go with that storyline admitting it has been something that has been in the works since as early as Season 2 of the series. As well he said they conducted a lot of research among adoptive siblings and found that although it makes for an awkward situation it is something that happens and does exist in the real world as well.
Speaking of the real world, the lead character Carpenter and Hall have just recently announced their divorce has been finalized. Ironic considering their could possibly be an on-screen romance or could there be? Buck revealed that although Carpenter’s character has these feelings, he doesn’t feel Dexter has ever or will ever reciprocate the same feelings. He added that Dexter isn’t really capable of loving and Lumen has been the closest he has come to doing so.
Unfortunately for Dexter fans talk of the series coming to close has started. The series has been approved for two more seasons, but probably won’t continue after the 8th season. Buck recently said there are a few people involved now, all with different opinions has to how the series should conclude. He added it’s just a matter of having everyone sit down a figure out how it will end. “We’re all clearly heading in one direction, but that grand finale has not been decided yet,” Buck said of the finale.
