Dexter executive producer Sara Colleton has finally come forth with some much needed Dexter spoilers.
He has revealed that Dexter season 5 will begin right where season 4 ended: with the death of Dexter’s wife. 
“We have spent the last month sitting around, talking and really debating how best to deal with the aftermath of [Rita's death]. We uniformly decided that we don’t want to jump ahead. We need to see Dexter go through the process that we’d all have to go through if such a horrible thing had happened to us. We need to see him doing everything from the big emotional things like grieving the loss, to the mundane things like arranging a funeral, getting the kids dressed, and all the other things that are usually done for men because their wives or mothers do them.”
Colleton added that this time, there may not be a “big bad,” an adversary that Dexter must deal with for the entire season. She said that John Lithgow, who won a Golden Globe for playing the Trinity Killer last season, would be a hard villain to top.

i think dexter should go insane this season because of ritas death. i love the show and it is what i look forward to every week but we need to end it while it’s on top. let’s get real. would a serial killer show up in miami every year in miami. no
I agree.if you read the books and watch the show we know dexter is not an emotionally driven person, but if your going to continue and show an emotional side, you need to show the effects of that emotion on the dark passanger. he’s like an addict he wants to quite but cant, and just because Rita is gone does not mean he will stop killing, does not mean everyone else in miami will stop! I think the proposed showing dexters ” reaction and dealing with the human factor and mundane things revolving around his wifes murder is great, actually quit human, but that not dexter! and doing this with no key villian would destroy the franchise. if I was Jeff Lindsey I would be rolling over in my grave about the direction the show may take!
I’m pissed Rita died. I hope it was a dream, and he wakes up in Hawaii with her. If not I might not support the show. It’s like nothing ever good happens in this show. Everyone fucking dies. PLEASE someone tell the producers that this is what they need to do. Dexter wouldn’t be Dexter without her. Dammit! I’ll just stick to the HBO shows, at least I don’t go to bed sad after an episode or season…

I’m all for the dream theory, not looking forward to no more Rita, but you do realize this show is about a murderer, everybody is supposed to die, that is except for Dexter, go ahead and watch true blood instead, NOBODY ever dies there….
dude have you read the books? did you not pay attention in season 4 he needs to break for the sake, you boil this show down to a soap opera, and thats not what it is! Read the books! anyways HELLO BAD SHIT HAPPENS! all the time to people some more than others! the ending was great, but they should have showed 5 more minutes to see the first thing he did!
Alright, this kind of thing is what I’m NOT liking about Dexter now. Season 4 brought in a whole bunch of new fans that can’t follow the usual darkness of the show. Dex was never normal. I think the whole point of season 4 was to allow the fans to relate to Dexter. Like it or not, Dexter presents a good amount of darkness. If you watch the first two seasons it’s pretty easy to see that Dexter hasn’t ever really been about Love and Family.
So I will have to agree with MEGA DEXTER FAN, in that I and all of the original fans would hate to see Dexter turn into some daytime tv drama. Rita was a great part of the show, and it let Dex show another side of his life and his personality, but I’ve always loved the storyline, and Season 4 ending the way it did allows a TON of opportunities. I can’t wait to see what tricks dexter has up his sleeves this next season.
I deffiantly agree i think it should just be a dream or something that dexter had. i love rita and dexter together. and rita looks after the kids in the show, so it would be wayyy too much for the viewers to watch dexter juggle 3 kids his job plus his dark passenger.i was actualy looking forward to dexter goin to the keys with rita to get away.. plus they always used to have really hot sex scenes and now they dont any more!

Love the show, i think they could have had a better cliff hanger, but it will be intresting to see what happens and how decxter can handle the situation, in sayn tht i hope it is not the biggeststoryline in season 5,, cant wait to c wathppens
i think that quinn will expose dexter and elliot will too but masuka will have dexters back because he saw elliot and rita kiss and dexter will bring up quinn being a dirty cop, im pretty sure somebody from the main cast is going to die in this season as well
Glad Rita is dead she was a whiny annoying bitch. I was hoping Dex would snap and kill her. And screw ending the show who cares if a serial killer comes to miami every year, Dude its a tv show. DEXTER IS THE BEST SHOW ON TV!!!!
i think that rita being killed is very sad and a bad way to end the season and now all the fans have to worry about oh god will he get caught and now he has to give up killing and all the usual bullshit in a show that eventually goes down the drain i am a very big dexter fan and i love to see where the story goes and how they do things

i understan a serial killer can not come to miami every year but that doesnt mean dexter cant find them i right now personally am goin to watch the show with no expectations i think you should all to im to big of a fan to just not care i doubt the story will turn to shit but im outlandishly excited for the new show im not to big of a fan to admit when the show needs to come to an end i believe thats why they had his son “born in blood” to offer more outlits for the show
