The romantic twist that was revealed in Dexter’s season finale has fans questioning why the show’s producers and writers went with this.
The final epsidoe showed that Debra already knows her brother is a killer. But more than that, Debra is also secretly in love with Dexter. This new revelation came out of nowhere, said one critic, and many have concluded that the ending was perhaps part of someone’s imagination or dream sequence.
Dexter producers say, however, that this is definitely not a dream. The idea of Debra falling for Dexter has been discussed as early as Season 2 but was downplayed and ignored until they decided to finally go with it. It was finally time to take the issue.
This perhaps explains why it has taken her all these years to figure out her brother is behind those killings. Blinded by love, smart detective Debra chose to ignore all those clues, until she saw it with her own eyes.
The producers say that now that this new development is out in the bag, there are plenty of ways the writer can go in order to end this show.
Given a possible end date by Showtime a few months back, the producers promised the ending will satisfy the viewers best.
